The promotion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, a real fact of Burundi.

To the bilateral diplomacy exercised by Burundi through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, as a tool for the pursuit of the interests of the State, is added the multilateral diplomacy involving a varied number of actors but which is an essential tool for the implementation of regional integration dynamics and the development of economic cooperation.

During the past term, as indicated by Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation during the presentation of the achievements of this Ministry, fruitful visits were made at the ministerial level and at the highest level by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation H.E Ambassador Albert Shingiro. His visits to the Kingdom of Bahrain and New York resulted in signing several Cooperation Agreements. We can cite, without being exhaustive, the signiture of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Burundi and the Republic of Hungary on cooperation within the framework of the Hungarian scholarship program for the period 2022-2024 signed in the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and the Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between Burundi and the Kingdom of Bahrain signed on August 22, 2022. Other visits were made to Nairobi, Tokyo, etc. With regard to the promotion of economic diplomacy, H E Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO indicated that the Ministry organized and/or participated in several economic forums including an Economic Forum in New York in the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and the business forum between Burundi and Nigeria.

The Ministry also received in audience several delegations from foreign countries and regional and international organizations, including delegations from Germany, Belgium, the Central African Republic, Kenya, the DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, the African Union, the International Center for Research and Documentation on Translations and African Languages ​​(CERDOTOLA), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAf), the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), the World Bank, the United Nations, etc.
