Burundi Strengthens Its Diplomatic Engagement at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly

The Republic of Burundi is actively participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, whose High-Level Week is taking place in New York from 23 to 27 September 2025. Held under the theme “Peace, Progress and Solidarity for a Sustainable World,” this session calls on Member States to renew their commitment to the founding principles of the UN Charter amid growing global challenges.

In this context, His Excellency Ambassador Edouard BIZIMANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, has represented Burundi in several high-level meetings and engaged in a series of bilateral discussions with fellow foreign ministers. These exchanges, marked by mutual respect and diplomatic convergence, reaffirm Burundi’s commitment to active diplomacy. Some of these meetings resulted in the signing of bilateral agreements, including the formal establishment of diplomatic relations with new partners.

Through its presence at the United Nations General Assembly, Burundi continues to promote dialogue, solidarity, and equitable cooperation in pursuit of sustainable development and global peace.
