Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Burundi
On Thursday September 19, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping, exchanged letters for the construction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation building in Gitega, the Political capital.
This building will have 11 floors and an underground parking lot for a budget equivalent to twenty million US dollars (28,000,000 USD). This building will also be handed over to the Ministry fully equipped.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert Shingiro highly appreciated China’s Commitment to build such a large and modernized building for the smooth running of activities of the Ministry.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping indicated that China is committed to speeding up the implementation of this project. It is expected that the construction and equipment activies will be carried out over a period of 2 years.
It should be noted that the Good collaboration between China and Burundi on this project has also been strengthened by bilateral contacts that have accelerated even during the meetings at the summits of Heads of States (SINOCA).
