This Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Mister Ferdinand BASHIKAKO, opened activities related to the production of satellite accounts.
In his speech, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mister Ferdinand BASHIKAKO mentioned that satellite accounts are a necessary step for the economic development of the whole country. For Burundi, they will contribute to the efforts of the Government to achieve its vision of Burundi an Emerging Country by 2040 and Developed Country by 2060.
Satellite accounts are statistical tools that allow to accurately measure the contributions of policies and programs, quantify the impact of investments and identify the sectors that benefit most from efforts. He also noted that this workshop represents an important step in building a more complete and precise vision in development and will allow to improve calculation methods by relying on best practices and the latest technologies and ensure the reliability and accuracy of data; strengthen capacities of experts and share their knowledge and experiences and develop new skills; promote collaboration by bringing together specialties from different fields because “it is by working together that we will achieve significant results” added the Permanent Secretary.
The Permanent Secretary concluded his speech by stating that satellite accounts will provide valuable information to prioritize actions by better understanding the impact of interventions, strengthen transparency of public and partner confidence in resource management and improve decision-making that will allow for informed decisions and more effective policies
