The Republic of Burundi receives a donation of medicines offered by the Egyptian Government

On july 22, 2022, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Burundi H.E.M Yasser Elsayed and Madam Léonie NDIHOKUBWAYO, Director of Relations with Africa, Asia and Oceania, who represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation proceeded to the hand over and reception of a donation of medicines offered by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Government of the Republic of Burundi.

The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Burundi H.E.M Yasser Elsayed said that it is within the framework of supporting the efforts of H.E.M Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, to contribute to improving both the health of the Burundian population and the quality of care for a better future for the Burundian people.

Ambassador Yasser Elsayed also said that the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt is always ready to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Burundi in the context of supporting Burundi in its process of sustainable development.

In her speech, Mrs. Léonie NDIHOKUBWAYO thanked the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt through its Embassy in Burundi, which spares no effort to improve the living conditions of the Burundian population through various interventions.

Mrs. Léonie NDIHOKUBWAYO also recalled that cooperation between Burundi and the Arab Republic of Egypt dates back several years and that it has always been characterized by varied support. In this context, Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding have been signed, support for the Egyptian Government by the Burundian Government in the context of position statements and applications for positions within Regional and International Organizations, donations have been granted by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in favor of the Government of Burundi as well as exchanges of visits. She pointed out that these essentially economic and technical cooperation actions, the strengthening of friendship and cooperation relations is characterized by consultations and high-level visits.

She did not fail to salute the considerable efforts of the Egyptian Government through its multifaceted support in order to meet the challenges facing Burundi in the context of building capacities in areas as varied as they are strategic, such as the regular offer of several short and long-term training (internships, seminars and scholarships) in the sectors of security, defense, diplomacy, health, agriculture and livestock, environment, energy and mines, etc. in favor of Burundian executives.

She also recalled that the Government of Burundi has included in its National Development Plan (PND Burundi 2018-2027) priority actions to improve the access of the entire population to care and the level of health of the population through a system healthy, strong and resilient. In response to this plan of the Government of Burundi, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt here is that the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to grant a donation of medical products in favor of the police hospital, hospital military in Kamenge and the hospital in Bururi.

She ended her remarks by reiterating her feelings of gratitude once again to the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt which continues to show its effective will to support the efforts of the Burundian Government.
