Audience granted by the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation

On wednesday, november 24, 2021, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO received in audience the First Counselor of the Embassy of the Popular Republic of China in Burundi Ms. WANG Yuan.

The exchanges focused on the overview of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Popular Republic of China and the Republic of Burundi.

The Permanent Secretary said that China and Burundi have long enjoyed good relations of friendship and cooperation. He said that China intervenes in different sectors of the country’s life.

Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO then handed over the document of the Implementation Agreement for the National Road No. 1 deviation project which had just been signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation. He thus asked Ms. WANG Yuan for the status of projects that have not yet started.

The First Counselor of the Embassy of the Popular Republic of China in Burundi thanked the Permanent Secretary for granting the audience. She too appreciated the friendly and cooperative relations that exist between China and Burundi.

For projects that have not yet started, Ms. WANG Yuan said that they are following the normal course to be executed.

The two personalities finally discussed the next Forum on Sino-African Cooperation (Focac) 2021 which will be held from november 29 to 30, 2021 in Senegal. The Permanent Secretary indicated that Burundi will also be represented in this forum.
