On Thursday October 23, 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Edouard BIZIMANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, received in audience Ambassador Volksn ISIKCI, General Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, in charge of Political and Bilateral relations with African Eastern and Southern countries, as well as Multilateral Affairs on the African Continent.

After the customary greetings, Ambassador ISIKCI delivered a letter of congratulations from His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye to his Burundian counterpart. He then presented a report on the conclusions and commitments resulting from the political consultations held between Burundi and Türkiye on the same day in Bujumbura.
Turkey reaffirmed its commitment to support Burundi in the implementation of its Vision 2040–2060, proposing a sustainable investment plan for the consideration of the Burundian government. This plan includes:
- The establishment of Turkish companies in Burundi to ensure the local processing of Turkish products currently imported;
- The construction of sustainable infrastructure, including roads, schools, hospitals, and dams.
Discussions also focused on several other areas of cooperation, including:
- Preparations for the first Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, scheduled for March 2nd to March 8, 2026 (dates to be confirmed);
- Scholarships awarded by Türkiye, particularly in the military and security fields;
- Strengthening multilateral cooperation through:
- Preparations for the 4th Türkiye-Africa Summit, scheduled for late 2026 in Tripoli, Libya, where Burundi will hold the presidency of the African Union;
o Burundi’s invitation to the Diplomatic Forum scheduled to take place in Türkiye from April 17 to 19, 2026;
o Mutual support in international forums.
The Burundian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed his wish to receive, through appropriate diplomatic channels, detailed information on upcoming summits and forums in order to ensure strategic participation in line with the country’s interests.
