Workshop for validating the MAEIRCD’s statistical methodology

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, through the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Monitoring-Evaluation, organised from 10 to 11 June 2026, in Cibitoke, on the premises of the Imperial Hotel, a workshop to validate the updated methodology for producing ministerial statistics.

This workshop is part of the Ministry’s desire to adapt its statistical tools to the new missions and responsibilities entrusted to it.

The work pursued several major objectives, including presenting the main changes made to the existing methodology, examining and validating the indicators selected, ensuring their relevance and compliance with international standards, and harmonizing the mechanisms for collecting, processing and transmitting data in order to guarantee institutional consistency and better reliability of the statistics produced.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sophonie Nitunga, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation. In his address, he emphasized the strategic importance of reliable and up-to-date statistics to support planning, monitoring and evaluation, and informed decision-making within the Ministry.

This workshop represents a significant step in the process of modernizing the Ministry’s statistical practices. It also reflects a commitment to strengthening transparency, methodological rigor, and efficiency in information management, while consolidating the credibility of the data produced in service of diplomacy, regional integration, and development cooperation.
