On January 26, 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi to the Gabonese Republic, Ambassador Agricole MWAMBA NTIRAMPEBA, presented his letters of credence to His Excellency the President of the Gabonese Republic Brice Oligui Nguema. The Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi transmitted the sincere fraternal greetings of His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE, President of the Republic of Burundi, the Burundian People and the Gabonese People.


Ambassador Agricole MWAMBA NTIRAMPEBA reminded His Excellency Brice Oligui Nguema that the cooperation between Burundi and Gabon is governed by many cooperation agreements signed for a long time, in the case of the one signed in Franceville on December 10, 1975 at the occasion of the visit of the President of Burundi to Gabon. Those agreements include in particular the General Cooperation Agreement, the Commercial Agreement, the Air Agreement as well as the Labor Cooperation Agreement. With the evolution of their relations and friendship that have always characterized the two Republics. The two countries currently have a pressing need to implement those agreements signed and let the Burundian and Gabonese people to take the advantage of it in all aspects.
On the menu of his priorities, Ambassador Agricole MWAMBA NTIRAMPEBA listed as objectives to be achieved, the opening of a consular representation of Burundi in Libreville as a way of reciprocity because Gabon has opened a consular mission in Bujumbura since October 29, 2012. He also provided to implement the Agreements signed in the past but stopped during their implementation, as well as those recently signed between the two governments in Libreville. A joint cooperation commission is included in the forecasts in order to give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation between those two countries. Finally, it is planned to update certain the Cooperation Agreements, notably the Labor Cooperation Agreement and many other Agreements which would be considered relevant by the two countries.
Ambassador Agricole MWAMBA NTIRAMPEBA reiterated his commitment in cementing the relations that exist between Burundi and Gabon.
