Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Burundi
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Mr. Sophonie Nitunga, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, granted an audience to Her Excellency Ms. Salimata ET Tourray , appointed Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to Burundi, with residence in Addis Ababa. During the audience, the diplomat presented copies of her letters of credence.
During the discussions, Her Excellency Ms. Tourray outlined the main areas of cooperation likely to strengthen bilateral relations between the two states. She specifically mentioned agriculture, infrastructure, food security, and defense, as well as other sectors where mutually beneficial collaboration could be considered.
In response, Mr. Nitunga reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to working together with The Gambia to consolidate and further develop the existing ties between the two nations.
