On Friday, September 20, 2024, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO, participated in the ceremonies organized by the Chinese Embassy in Burundi to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, since 1949. There were also other distinguished guests, including the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions, representatives ofinternational organizations accredited in Burundi, senior state officials, and many others.
The Ambassador of China to Burundi, Mrs Zhao Jiangping, indicated to the participants that since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 75 years ago, Chinese has achieved great things, including sustained economic development and long-term social stability. China has achieved the goal of eliminating poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. Chinese economy is progressing steadily, and the dynamics of China’s development provide a strong impetus for promoting common development between China and other countries in the world, creating further opportunities for developing countries, she added.Mrs Zhao Jiangping stated that in terms of bilateral cooperation, friendship and cooperation between China and Burundi continue to develop thanks to the joint efforts of both parties.
In his speech, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO, congratulated, on behalf of the Government of Burundi, the Chinese people on the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He emphasized that China has achieved great victories in all areas, particularly in the economic sector, which is the result of the hard work of its people who have relied on their own strengths. According to him, other countries seeking to reach the highest level of development should draw inspiration from China’s determination.
Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO positively appreciated the bilateral relations between Burundi and China, which are based on solid foundations of solidarity, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation. He reiterated the gratitude of Burundian government for China’s multiple and diverse support in various areas of the country’s life and in capacity building.
