Regarding the promotion of the international cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, during the presentation of the Ministry’s achievements for the first half of 2023-2024, focused on the organization and participation in many meetings and summits held in different countries. We would mention among others: the Conference of the Parties which committed to respecting the United Nations convention on the climate change (COP28) held in Dubai during which the President of the Republic of Burundi had the opportunity to share with the world experience in the fight against the climate change. The Burundian Number One also spoke with the investors who wish to come to Burundi, some of whom will come in January. In the series of those meetings, Burundi had the opportunity to sign an agreement with Saudi Arabia for 50 million dollars in financing relating to the modern rehabilitation of the Hospital (CHUK) Roi Khaled and those costs are added at most 30 million dollars which are granted to the Burundian Government through its Ministry responsible for Finance.
Burundi once again participated in the Group77+ Summit in China, Cuba, and Havana, a group made up of 121 countries ready to support Burundi at the appropriate time. Burundi also participated in the 3rd Extraordinary Conference of Heads of State and Government of ECCAS on the situation in Gabon, in which the Burundian Head of State was able to give his position in relation to the Gabon question. Burundi also participated in the 15th BRICS Summit (Brazil, India, China, Russia and South Africa) in Johannesburg. That invitation, from the Burundi’s side, shows that those countries enjoy the Burundi’s contribution and have the confidence in it, with regard to its current position in relation to peace and security. Burundi has also participated in the Summit on Food and Agriculture in Africa in Dar Es Salaam where His Excellency the President of the Republic of Burundi highlighted agriculture in Burundi.
Burundi has not only visited other countries, but on the other hand the said country has welcomed the visitors. It also welcomed 60 delegations from Somalia, Gabon, and the President of FIFA, Mr Gianni INFANTINO, etc.
