Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Burundi
His Excellency Ambassador Édouard BIZIMANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, received Mrs Amy Davison, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the United States of America in Burundi, in audience on Tuesday June 2nd 2026. This visit was part of a farewell visit, as Mrs Amy Davison is coming to the end of her mission in Burundi.
During the meeting, Mrs Davison praised the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the United States of America and Burundi. She also praised the quality of the collaboration she had enjoyed with various Burundian institutions, in particular with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation.
The two officials then reviewed the security situation in Eastern DRC, as well as the humanitarian situation of refugees and populations affected by the conflict. They emphasized the need for the international community to step up its efforts to contribute to a lasting solution to this crisis and also provide adequate assistance to the affected populations.
His Excellency Ambassador Édouard BIZIMANA expressed his gratitude to Mrs Amy Davison for her commitment to strengthening relations between Burundi and the United States of America. He praised the achievements made during her tenure.
On this occasion, the Minister asked her to remain, wherever she may be called upon to carry out her future duties, a true ambassador for Burundi. He reaffirmed the Burundian Government’s appreciation for the efforts she had made during her mission in Burundi and wished her success in the pursuit of her diplomatic career.
