On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Mr. Sophonie Nitunga, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Development Cooperation, granted an audience to His Excellency Domingos de Almeida Da Silva Caelho , appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Burundi, with residence in Dar es Salaam. The diplomat presented copies of his letters of credence.

During the session, His Excellency Mr. Caelho expressed his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Burundi. He highlighted several priority sectors for cooperation, including agriculture, trade, education, defense, and infrastructure. He also indicated that a joint cooperation commission between the two countries is being established to provide a structured framework for these exchanges.
In response, Mr. Sophonie Nitunga reaffirmed Burundi’s commitment to facilitating and supporting the Angolan diplomatic mission, by putting in place all the necessary arrangements to promote the success of this collaboration.
