On March 3, 2026, His Excellency Ambassador Edouard BIZIMANA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, received in audience Mrs. Mouna DIAWARA, Country Director of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Burundi, who came to present her letters of accreditation.

During this meeting, both officials expressed their satisfaction with the strong relationship between Burundi and the African Development Bank (AfDB). They agreed to further strengthen these ties, demonstrating their mutual commitment to working for the country’s development. Mrs. Mouna DIAWARA, on behalf of the AfDB and in her own behalf, commanded Minister Bizimana on Burundi’s recent assumption of the chairmanship of the African Union. She expressed her institution’s unwavering commitment to supporting Burundi in implementing its national vision and the priorities set by His Excellency the Chairperson of the African Union.

In response, Minister Edouard Bizimana welcomed the ongoing support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to the Government of Burundi. He also reaffirmed Burundi’s readiness to assist Mrs. DIAWARA in carrying out her mission. This meeting marks a key moment in the partnership between Burundi and the AfDB, illustrating concerted efforts to address development challenges and promote sustainable growth for the country.
