The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation and the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sign an agreement for a projet to support the development of human capital in Burundi youth

On Thursday september 19, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert Shingiro and the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund  (UNFPA) Mr Judicael ELIDJE signed an agreement for a projet to provide support in the development of human capital in Burundian youth, developed jointly by UNFPA with the Government of Burundi.

This project is funded by India through UNFPA. It will help children develop in different areas of life namely health, employment, communication …

This project will cover three communes in six provinces of Burundi namely, Bujumbura Mairie, Bujumbura Rural, Cankuzo, Gitega, Kirundo and Makamba

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassor Albert Shingiro is delighted with India’s commitment to finance projects to support Burundian youth in development given that children are the future of the country.

The UNFPA Representative in Burundi Mr. Judicael ELIDJE stressed that the youth empowerment program is useful to capitalize on peace allowing the contribution of young people to the development of the country.

He informed that UNFPA and Burundi will work together for the smooth running of this project and he also thanked the Government for having reflected on this project and resulted in its signature.
