On wednesday september 27, 2023, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako received in audience the Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi, Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducruet who has just finished his mission in Burundi and who came to introduce his successor Mr. Olivier Haringanji.
The Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi, Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducruet announced that due to the lack of budget, the International Committee of the Red Cross would not be able to develop the new projects in Burundi, but all the projects currently being executed will be implemented. He informed that the resumption of the activities is planned in 2025. Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducruet indicated that he appreciated how the IARC worked with Burundi, a good sightseeing country.
The Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi, Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducruet also announced the end of his mission in Burundi and introduced Mr. Olivier Haringanji as his Successor.
Note that Mr. Olivier Haringanji is a Burundian and he was the Assistant Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi.
After giving a warm welcome to the Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi with his companion Mr. Olivier Haringanji, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako thanked the IARC for its mission to Burundi. He informed that the activities that the CIRC carried out in Burundi were appreciated by the Government of Burundi.
Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako expressed his gratitude by thanking the CIRC for choosing a Burundian to continue the activities as the Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi. He said that it is a promotion that Burundi has just received.
The Permanent Secretary welcomed the new Head of Mission Mr. Olivier Haringanji and welcomed good collaboration with Burundi.
The new Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Burundi Mr. Olivier Haringanji thanked the Permanent Secretary for the warm welcome he gave him and promised that he will work well with Burundi and that the projects in progress will all be implemented.
