Samedi le 26 février 2022, le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères et de la Coopération au Développement, Son Excellence Ambassadeur Albert SHINGIRO et l’Ambassadeur de la République Populaire de Chine au Burundi, Madame ZHAO Jiangping ont procédé à l’échange des lettres sur le projet de réhabilitation, d’extension et de modernisation de l’Aéroport International Melchior NDADAYE au Burundi.
En effet, dans le cadre de cimenter les relations d’amitié et de coopération existant entre le Burundi et la Chie depuis longtemps, sur la demande du Gouvernement de la République du Burundi, le Gouvernement chinois consent à exécuter le projet d’Accord de réhabilitation, d’extension et de modernisation de l’Aéroport International Melchior NDADAYE au Burundi. Ce projet concerne la rénovation de la piste, la bretelle et les aires de stationnement existantes de la Zone des pistes de l’Aéroport, construction de certaines aires de stationnement, l’accotement, une tour de contrôle et un bâtiment administratif de gestion du trafic aérien et équiper des équipements aériens, de communication, de météorologie et de surveillance. Les frais y relatifs seront réglés dans le cadre du don sans contrepartie arrêté dans l’Accord sur la Coopération Economique et Technique entre les deux Gouvernements comment le déclare le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères et de la Coopération au Développement et l’Ambassadeur de la République Populaire de Chine au Burundi.
