{"id":9621,"date":"2026-09-16T11:00:45","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T11:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/?p=9621"},"modified":"2026-09-16T11:00:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T11:00:45","slug":"first-political-and-diplomatic-consultations-between-burundi-and-vietnam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/first-political-and-diplomatic-consultations-between-burundi-and-vietnam\/","title":{"rendered":"First Political and Diplomatic Consultations between Burundi and Vietnam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, His Excellency Ambassador \u00c9douard Bizimana, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Development Cooperation, received a delegation led by His Excellency Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9622 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-300x297.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-300x297.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-1024x1015.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-768x762.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-1536x1523.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ph-vietinam1-2048x2031.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This meeting took place within the framework of the first political and diplomatic consultations between Burundi and Vietnam, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Hanoi on April 4, 2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After welcoming the Vietnamese delegation, Minister Bizimana outlined the proposed key areas of cooperation, highlighting on:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Education and research<\/li>\n<li>Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Technological exchanges<\/li>\n<li>Tourism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regarding education and research, the Government of Burundi seeks to benefit from specialized training in the fields of environmental protection, scientific research, and mineral identification and exploitation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the agricultural sector, Burundi aims to establish a partnership with Vietnam to improve production methods, particularly through mechanization, the exchange of expertise, and the processing of agri-food products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In terms of technology, the two countries are considering partnerships for technology transfer and cooperation on digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for tourism, Burundi, rich in largely untapped potential\u2014wishes to draw upon Vietnam\u2019s recognized expertise in the development and promotion of tourist sites.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The two delegations also discussed political and diplomatic matters. They agreed to support each other in defending their national and international interests, particularly within multilateral forums.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening their bilateral ties and consolidating their friendly cooperation, especially regarding the defense of either country&#8217;s sovereignty.
