It brought together representatives of the FAO in Burundi and a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, led by Mr Michel Bizindavyi, Director of Francophonie. Among the sites visited were:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The Mparambo Seed Centre and an irrigation infrastructure at the hill level.<\/li>\n<li>Rabbit feed processing sites managed by COIEDE cooperatives in Bujumbura and Gitega provinces (Cibitoke and Giheta communes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This mission aimed to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and the FAO and to ensure greater visibility of the results achieved. The delegation also visited:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The Mparambo Seed Centre and a hillside irrigation system.<\/li>\n<li>Rabbit feed processing sites managed by COIEDE cooperatives in the provinces of Bujumbura and Gitega (Cibitoke and Giheta communes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aim of this mission was to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and the FAO and to raise the profile of the results achieved. The delegation also visited:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The Gisuru and Nyabitsinda farmers\u2019 cooperative.<\/li>\n<li>The Kinyinya seed centre in Buhumuza province.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9248 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/PH-FAO1.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These organizations received beans, rice, maize and peanuts seeds distributed by the FAO. Members of these cooperatives testified to the progress made thanks to the technical and financial support as well as the training received. Despite some diseases affecting the crops, the harvest has increased and the knowledge acquired is being shared with farmers. The mission noted that cooperatives play an essential role in disseminating good practices, which justifies strengthened institutional support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, the delegation visited several cooperatives, including DUKUNDE IBIKORWA in Mbuye (Ngozi), in Butanyerera province. These groups are involved in agriculture, mushroom cultivation and the rearing of pigs and goats.
