In a press conference on the achievements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, held on july 7, 2023, the Minister also spoke about the activities carried out by the Ministry as part of monitoring the execution of the projects financed by the Burundi’s partners.<\/p>\n

Those projects including the construction of the Uvinza-Musongati-Gitega-Uvira-Kindu railway in the DRC. Concerning the Declaration of a public utility of the area intended to accommodate the infrastructures of the services of the Presidency of the Republic, the decision has been signed. As part of the following-up of the RN1 deviation project, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited won the contract. As for the rehabilitation, the extension and modernization project of Melchior NDADAYE International Airport, the companies China Airport planning and design Institute Co. Limited and Northwest civil aviation Project management Co. won the contract. The Ministers in charge of infrastructure and transport have been notified. Regarding the Construction Project of the Building of the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, a team of Chinese experts has been in Burundi since may 28, 2023. In addition, the Port of Bujumbura rehabilitation project was also monitored. A field visit was made by the authorities of the Ministries in charge of foreign affairs, infrastructure and transport with the Head of Mission of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). After that visit, they agreed to prepare a meeting between JICA and the officials of the Maritime Port Authority to discuss the amendment to the Agreement for the rehabilitation of that port, so that the project must been executed in its entirety.<\/p>\n

The other projects have been realized, such as the project to build the modern storage sheds for agricultural products. The Minister added that those sheds will be built in Ngozi and Karusi, on the financing of the revenue from the sale of the Japanese donated rice. Concerning the public lighting on urban roads, the project will be financed from the revenue from the sale of the Japanese donated fuel. In the field of education, His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO added that the negotiations have been done and Burundi has obtained more than 174 scholarships, 88 training courses as well as 16 training seminars from the Burundi’s partners including France, Morocco, Egypt, Japan, China, India and the United States of America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
