On wednesday october 12, 2022, the Office of the Resident Representative of the United Nations in Burundi in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation organized awareness-raising activities for Bilateral and Multilateral partners on the new Cooperation Framework Plan between the Burundi and the United Nations System in Burundi at the Roca Golf Hotel. The activities were opened by the Director General of Multilateral Relations, Ambassador Isa\u00efe KUBWAYO.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"The Director General in charge of Multilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation opened the activities by welcoming the participants. He said that all activities organized throughout the country must comply with the National Development Plan. It is in this context that he indicated that the objective of the process of the new Framework Plan for Cooperation between Burundi and the United Nations System is to change Burundian society into a more prosperous, inclusive and resilient society till 2027. Ambassador Esa\u00efe KUBWAYO added that the partners are not limited to the United Nations System, he said that they will travel the whole country to see their appreciation towards the United Nations System of the fact that this project is a work of collaboration with the partners.<\/p>\n

The Director General said that this cooperation mainly frames the agricultural food sector so that “every mouth has food and every pocket has money”. He continues by reassuring that the other production sectors will find their day when the mouth is satisfied and the pockets are filled with satisfactory capital.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the Representative of the United Nations Office Mr. Damien MAMA briefly presented the program and the objectives of the new Cooperation Framework Plan between Burundi and the United Nations System, saying that it is a collective response to the priorities of Burundi. He said they will work with the Government of Burundi to identify the highest priority investment sectors. They will help in the enhancement of the agricultural food system and enhance the production aspects. The Representative of the United Nations Office also indicated that the partners will help to have access to financing because there are no projects without financing.<\/p>\n

\"\"The United Nations Representative Damien MAMA ended by indicating that the United Nations System will generally help in the structural transformation of the economy and the improvement of governance, the improvement of human capital and capitalization of the demographic dividend, the management sustainability and enhanced resilience to the impacts of climate change and other shocks. He added that work desks will be created as needed.<\/p>\n

The Director General closed the activities by thanking all the partners for their contributions which will help in the transformation of Burundian society into a prosperous, inclusive and resilient society by 2027.<\/p>\n

It should also be noted that the signing of the new Cooperation Framework Plan between Burundi and the United Nations System is scheduled for november 2022.<\/p>\n
