By the will of African diplomats accredited to UNESCO, the &#8220;African week of UNESCO&#8221; was initiated. The organization of such an event aims to contribute to strengthen the visibility of Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Embassy of Burundi in Paris participated in this UNESCO African Week, which was held from May 23 to 25, 2022 at UNESCO House (Paris) under the theme: &#8220;self-sufficiency, resilience and economic development in Africa\u201d. This theme is inspired by that of the African Union for this year 2022.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4111 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO-1024x732.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO-768x549.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO-1536x1098.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/UNESCO.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As reported by the Diplomatic Mission of Burundi in Paris, the celebration of the African Week revolved around several activities open to the public, which demonstrated Africa&#8217;s contribution to UNESCO&#8217;s fields of competence: exhibitions of African art and products; the screening of documentaries and films around African cultural heritage; conferences led by the African diaspora on the contribution of culture and civilization; the African lunch cocktail (presentation of African meals and drinks) and Africa at the world level and the African gala evening (Dances, parades in traditional African clothes, sketches, etc.) During lunch, the Embassy of Burundi presented a Burundian plate, commonly called &#8220;Agatoke&#8221;, which was savored and appreciated by the guests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the Gala evening, Burundi was on the evening program to present its culture through its dress code.
