He came for a courtesy visit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4053 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/PER-CICR-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/PER-CICR-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mae.gov.bi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/PER-CICR.jpg 443w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the usual greetings, Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducru thanked the Permanent Secretary for the audience. He announced that the activities of the ICRC vary according to the general situation of the country. He said that the situation in Burundi has improved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Pierre-Emmanuel Ducru indicated that the ICRC intervenes in various fields, among others the field of health where twelve health centers are supported in medicine, in the military and police field by teaching given to the troops who go to peacekeeping missions, refugees, prisons, repatriation of children, the ICRC also supports health centers in prisons, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;The ICRC Head of Mission reassured that in his mission, he will strengthen relations with the country&#8217;s authorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Taking the floor, the Permanent Secretary welcomed the ICRC Head of Mission and said that Burundi is a country which is open to partners and that the country will strengthen partnerships with foreign countries in mutual respect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako was pleased to hear that the new ICRC Head of Mission is emphasizing the strengthening of relations with the country&#8217;s authorities. He promised good collaboration from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation and determined to ensure their collaboration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;It should be noted that cooperation between Burundi and the ICRC dates from 1993 and is in good form.
