In the city of Bern, in Switzerland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation H.E Albert SHINGIRO met his counterpart from the Swiss Confederation, H.E Mr. Ignazio Cassis. The strengthening of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation as well as other matters of mutual interest were on the menu. At the end of their discussions, there was a convergence of views on these subjects and a shared desire to further warm up bilateral ties between the two countries.
On the sidelines of this visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO met other personalities and friends of Burundi, in order to promote the image of the country.
The mission led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of Burundi in Europe resulted in a convergence of points of view with Burundi’s partners on the lifting of the sanctions taken against Burundi, as well as the warming of relations of friendship and cooperation between Burundi and its European partners through mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of their respective peoples.
Note that at the end of his tour at the headquarters of the European Union in Brussels in Belgium, Paris in France, Geneva and Bern in Switzerland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation H.E Albert SHINGIRO invited his interlocutors to visit Burundi, on a date to be communicated through diplomatic channels. This invitation was accepted with pleasure.
The Burundian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation has wrapped up his tour by expressing his deep thanks to the authorities of the European Union, as well as the French and Swiss authorities for the warm welcome for the marks of attention to his delegation throughout its successful stay in Brussels, Paris, Geneva and Bern.
