The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Her Excellency Madam Sahle-Work Zewde paid an official visit to Burundi from February 09 to 10, 2021.
At her arrival in Bujumbura, Her Excellency Sahle-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, was warmly welcomed by her Counterpart of Burundi His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE, accompanied by Senior Officials of the State.
In a lively press briefing when she got off the plane at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, Her Excellency Sahle-Work Zewde said she was “honored to visit Burundi as Ethiopian Head of State and is committed to work towards strengthening relations between Burundi and Ethiopia ”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO participated as a member of the delegation led by the President of the Republic of Burundi His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE in the welcoming ceremonies of the President of the Federal Republic Democratic of Ethiopia His Excellency Sahle-Work Zewde.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO was also invited to the banquet that the President of the Republic of Burundi His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE and His Spouse offered in the honor of the President of Ethiopia H.E Sahle-Work Zewde.
This visit, which constitutes the highest form of diplomatic contact between our two countries, is part of the strengthening of the fraternal relations that have long existed between Burundi and Ethiopia.
